The Ford Philanthropy Scholarship Program

The Ford Philanthropy Scholarship Program is a need-based scholarship to junior or senior undergraduate students enrolled full-time and attending any accredited four-year, U.S.-based college or university majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Data Science

Selection Criteria:

Applicants for the Program must meet the following criteria:

· Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale;

· Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”) form;

· Have a demonstrated, unmet financial need as verified by their college or university;

· Be a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student at the time of the award;

· Be a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States;

· Be a student of color or a student from underrepresented communities who is attending (in the order of preference) any UNCF Member Institution, other HBCU, or an accredited four-year institution.

· Be majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Data Science.

v Preference shall be given to the following candidates:

o First generation undergraduate junior or senior students.

o HBCU and Member Institution.

Application Process:

Applicants must submit via UNCF’s online scholarship application portal by the deadline. All parts of the application must be completed and submitted by the deadline Essay – A personal statement of your career interests A recent official or unofficial academic transcript

An email confirmation will be sent to applicants who have submitted complete applications. If you do not receive this email, the application was probably not submitted correctly.

Final awards are announced by email within 10-12 weeks of the application close date.
